Health Science Technology Instructor Mrs. Petra Jones

Health Science Technology is a two-year program designed to provide knowledge and entry-level skills required for a large number of different medical careers. One of the main objectives is to enable students to make informed decisions about career goals. This program combines classroom and laboratory instruction to prepare the students for clinical internships. Instructional topics include healthcare systems, career exploration, personal care, medical legalities, medical mathematics, communications, infection control, nutrition, CPR/first aid, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Internship sites include hospitals, nursing homes, doctors' offices, and daycare centers. The internships specialize in certain areas including emergency, medial surgery, intensive care, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, X-ray, cardiology, chiropractic, ophthalmology, family practice and dentistry.
